We started paying ourselves salaries, for me, George and Paul (not Diana) and thus operating the PAYE tax system. So naturally I programmed it to reduce the amount of work. Eventually I felt it could be used by others, and I gave copies of it to various punters, eventually 50 or so, at no charge. I think George and Paul, who were working on a Windows version of Money Manager, considered it to be rather a wasteful distraction. But I persisted, and we started selling it as Payroll Manager. The structure was considerably different and much more sophisticated and capable than the competing Sage or Iris products. They cost several time more, were very much bigger, and made it a much, much more of an onerous thing. Rather the same as Money Manager.
