We left Argentina on 13 March, 2020, and a day later they cancelled all BA flights out of Argentina.  And to think that even then we were wondering whether it might be worth while staying on comfortably in Buenos Aires. An American we know ended up having to stay until November.  The argentines are really strict with their lockdowns, stricter than here.

 

We have rather enjoyed lockdown, but it is actually getting a bit boring. We have little idea what is going to happen next, and of course neither has anyone else in spite of what they might tell you.  So we are not even thinking about any plans, going to Italy, or Spain, or Buenos Aires.

Amber’s son Cass, an Lucy and family came back from Singapore last July, and bought a big house with an enormous modernised barn and 9 acres. We came to the barn in mid December, and it suited us, and it suited them, and we get on, and so we have stayed.  We are at Denne Manor Barn, Denne Manor Lane, Shottenden, Kent, CT4 8JJ.  Amber helps with the kids, does the gardening, and is so enjoying riding again.  A friend of Lucy’s has a farm with horses, one of which is too big for her, and so she is happy for Amber and Lucy to ride him.  This Amber does 3 or 4 times a week, and she also does dressage and show-jumping competitions, and has won several rosettes.

 

Cristina, our maid in BA, regularly stays in our flat there, so it is well looked after.  We long to go out to San Telmo - warm sun, eating out every day, the barrio, the people, and also Johnson and Biden and Putin etc. far, far away.

 

Amber and I (Gavin) are both in our normal good health, though tempus does fugit.  We have both had Pfizer jabs.

 

A nice tale about Amber:  her BA tennis coach, who is a lawyer in the Justice department, and also teaches at the university of Buenos Aires, and lives with his parents next to Boca Juniors stadium, when asked how he managed to also coach tennis to  Amber, said “Amber rocks!”

 

I have not sent you our news since early last year.  But it does seem as if nothing much has happened.  One is just waiting.....
